Review: e.l.f. Contour Palette

Hello everyone!

You all know by now that I'm obsessed with the e.l.f. quads, and I've recently acquired the contour palette (in addition to the blush palette and the bronzer palette).

The contour palette has a light and shimmery highlight shade, a slightly yellow matte powder (for under the eyes), and two matte contours, one warm and one cool.

If you read my review of the bronzer palette, you'll know I was disappointed with the quality of them.  Thankfully, the contour palette is closer to the blush palettes in quality.  All of the powders are smooth and pigmented, and blend well.

The highlight shade is very subtle, good for minimal days but not if you like a great glow.  Both of the contour shades are good, although I know the warm one is too orange for me (I'll use it as a bronzer or eyeshadow instead, or mix it with the cooler shade when I'm tanned).  The ashy shade, however, is perfect.  I purchased the e.l.f. contour brushes to use and they work really well with these powders to carve out your cheekbones.

The only downside about this palette is it only comes in one shade, and that shade only suits more fair skin tones.  I've noticed this problem with e.l.f. in the past, and I think it's a shame.

These are so inexpensive, and I think this palette is definitely worth your money if you are fair enough to suit it.

Review: e.l.f. Intense Ink Eyeliner

Hello everyone!

I've finally found my holy grail eyeliner!

I've been searching for the perfect liquid eye liner for a couple years now.  I've found some good ones, lots of terrible ones, but nothing that was absolutely perfect.

UNTIL NOW!

On a whim I tried the e.l.f. Intense Ink liquid eyeliner and I am in LOVE.

The felt tip on this is perfect for getting the perfect wing because it's so stiff.  The formula of the liner itself is super black and pigmented, and dries down nice and matte.  It also lasts all day, even when my eyes are irritated and I've been rubbing them!

I've used this tons of times, and it always looks so amazing.  And the price is definitely right (as with most e.l.f. products!)  I would recommend this to anyone looking for an A+ liquid eyeliner to master that impossible flick!

Humans of New York: Stories

Hello everyone!

Taken from Google because I loaned my copy to a friend.
I just wanted to quickly draw your attention to this amazing book from the man who brings you the famous Humans of New York.

This is a compilation of pictures and stories that captures the lives of a handful of New Yorkers.  Some stories are happy, some are sad, and all are poignant and will stick with you well after you are done reading.

It isn't a heavy read, I think I went through it in a night or two, but it leaves you feeling deeply moved.

I highly recommend giving this a read.

Review: Essence Make Me Brow

Hello everyone!

I recently picked up the Make Me Brow from Essence cosmetics, and thought I'd give you a a quick review!

This is really inexpensive, at only $2.99 per tube.  Essence products are really affordable, and this is no exception.

The packaging is nothing exceptional, but for the price it doesn't bother me at all.

Okay, let's talk about the actual product.

This looks EXACTLY like the Benefit Gimme Brow to me, and I honestly think this is a dupe.  The teeny tiny wand combs through brow hairs and distributes the perfect amount of product, and never gets any on your skin.  There are little fibers in the formula to enhance your natural brows, and the gel portion is stiff enough the keep your brows in place but doesn't leave them crispy.

Ultimately, I think everything about this is a win for me.  I'm really loving this, it's even taken a backseat to my Maybelline Brow Drama (I KNOW!).  This is great over top of brow products or even on its own.  I really love this, and I hope it's permanent in their line!

Review: The e.l.f. Bronzer Quad

Hello everyone!

I reviewed the e.l.f. blush quad a few months ago, and since I've worked towards collecting all of their quads.

The most recent addition is the bronzing quad.  This has 4 different shades of bronzer, two matte and two shimmer.  All of the colours are quite warm, although there is one that is ashy enough to work as a contour.

I have to say, this isn't as good in quality as the blush quad.  The matte shades are nice and smooth, although they aren't as pigmented as I would like.  The most shimmery shade is positively grainy in texture, not smooth at all.  The other shimmer is just medium in quality.  None if these are very pigmented, not nearly as well as the blush quad.

These work well on my pale skin, but I can guarantee they won't work on anyone much deeper in skin tone than me (I'm an NC15 at MAC).  They give me a nice shadow and bronze glow, but it is very subtle.

I will say again, I like that these pop out individually so you can customize a quad.  Now that I've got a few of these, I mix them up and bring the 4 I want when I travel.  It's very handy.

So all in all these are slightly disappointing, and definitely not for everyone.  I don't mid them, but I prefer light bronzers without too much pigmentation.  The price is definitely right on these, but if you're darker in skin tone or like a darker bronze, then these are not for you.
