Just a Little Skincare Haul

Hello everyone!

I popped into Walmart the other day (for soup) and ended up grabbing a few new skincare items to try.  While I'm sure none of these products are new, they are definitely new to me.  I've never even
heard of the one brand!

So what did I get?

I ran out of eye cream months ago and never bought a new one, and my under eyes were HATING me for it.  I decided to try out the L'Oreal Eye Defense as they did not have my Olay eye cream.  I've used this a couple of times, and so far I really like it!  It's very light, non-greasy and definitely hydrating.

Then I picked up two face masks from a brand I have never heard of, Formula 10.0.6.  One is their skin brightening peel-off mask with papaya and citrus and the other is their detoxifying mud mask with orange and bergamot.  I haven't given these a good enough run to tell you my thoughts yet, but look out for them in favourites/hate its in the future!  I'll try to update you!

So that's it for my little skin care haul.  Let me know if you've tried any of these things and what your thoughts were!

My New L.U.V.

Alright everyone, there's a new lipstick in town!

Everyone has heard of Kat Von D's liquid lipsticks.  If I hear one more person talk about Lolita I swear I'll throw my laptop out of a window.  But when I was in Sephora the other day, I decided not only to buy my FIRST liquid lipstick, but my first Sephora lipstick, and Kat Von D got the honour.

There are so many  mixed reviews on the liquid lipsticks, and I was really curious to find out for myself whether they were any good.  But I didn't go for a normal colour.  No, I went for L.U.V., a BRIGHT PURPLE.  I blame it on Sephora Madness, it's like something comes over me when I walk into the store and I stumble out an hour later clutching one of those black and white bags.

Anyway.  The next day I knew I HAD to try it, so I put it on right away with fresh skin and winged liner.  Check out the photo!  It actually looks so good!  It's out of my usual comfort zone, but I felt  so confident rocking this all day.

And yes, it did last all day.  I reapplied a couple of times because I tend to bite my lips throughout the day, but it lasted like a pro.  I did find this a little drying, and my lips weren't super hydrated in the first place.  Later in the day I actually put a gloss over top and even that still looked good and didn't effect the wear time.

A few other points to make:
- This costs $24, which I think is incredibly reasonable.
- This dries SUPER quickly, and is completely matte
- It doesn't transfer
- It doesn't bleed
- It lasts through eating and drinking
- IT WASHES OUT OF CLOTHES!!! (Yes, I accidentally got some on the sleeve of a WHITE sweater.  And it came out perfectly with a little Shout stain remover)

Overall, I'm SO glad I spent the money on this.  Even though the shade is kind of out there, I plan on wearing this as much as possible this spring and summer.  I'll be sure to take good care of my lips though!

*Let me know if you want a tutorial on this makeup look!*

Get UN-Ready With Me: My Exam Season Pamper Routine

Hello everyone!

Today's video is my exam season pamper routine.  Things just get so busy and stressful, and sometimes you need to take some time for yourself.

The irony is, I was going to put up a different video this week.  Not only was I late, but I had to put up this one because I ran out of time to create the other one!  Appreciate the irony, folks.

Get ready for monster face!

Review: Essence Contour Powder

Hello everyone!

Essence is a great brand, so when they came out with a contour powder it was something I knew I had to try.  Essence is known for being affordable, and even though the packaging is cheap looking, it doesn't matter when you find that AMAZING product.

The contour powder was more expensive than most of their products, at $4.99.  Still affordable, but higher in price than most items.

The two powders in this are nice and soft and pigmented.  The bronzer/contour shade is a little orange for a contour, but good for bronzing and it's completely matte which is great.  The highlight shade is a little stiff, but it gives an amazing natural glow in the face and isn't overly glittery.

I've been reaching for this every time I do my makeup, I absolutely love it.  The highlight shade is arguably one of the best ones I've tried from the drugstore, and the bronzer is really nice too.  I like that both of these are very blendable.  In my mind, this is totally worth the money, I would highly recommend trying it out if you can!

Beach Daydreams...

Hello everyone!

It's finals season, and I find myself daily dreaming about being on a soft, sandy beach somewhere, without any responsibilities, holding a fruity cocktail in a coconut shell in one hand and a good book in the other...

Which then got me thinking.  What would my top beach essentials be? I’ve teamed up with HomeAway to create this graphic to share my top 5 getaway essentials! If I were to go anywhere, it would be Bermuda.  I went there when I was about 15 and would love to go back.  The beaches are pink, who wouldn't love that! But, if youre looking for something in the United States, a hot spot this season is Panama City Beach in Florida.

In honour of my beachy dream, I thought I would throw in a few 'throwback' photos of my trip to Bermuda.  If you've been there, please let me know!  It's a wonderful place.

Product Graveyard #5

Hello everyone!

If you enjoy reading about products that didn't work for me, then you'll enjoy today's post!

1) H&M Overnight Lip Rescue

I was really hoping this would be good, or even a dupe for the Bite Beauty agave lip mask.  But it wasn't.  In fact, this did absolutely nothing.  And it tasted TERRIBLE.  Don't waste your money on it.

2) Joe Fresh False Lashes

These lashes were awful.  The band was impossible to work with, and the lashes themselves were coarse and just ugly.  They looked terrible and fake.  It was pretty obvious that they were cheap, and yet they cost more than Ardell!  Definite fail.

3) Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Polishes

These polishes are just not good.  They do dry instantly, but they don't layer well and they flake within seconds.  I really don't like them.  I have a friend who is really into nail art, so I'm passing them along to her and hopefully she can use them!

4) Lancome Eyeshadows

Thankfully these were free gifts, otherwise I'd be mad.  Lancome eye shadows are pricey, but they have no pigment, crease terribly, and are really powdery.  They are terrible quality in my opinion, and not worth buying.

5) Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation

I posted a review of this awhile back, and I talked about this on my Instagram too, but this product gave me a horrible allergic reaction.  It was worst along my jawline.  I got raised bumps under the skin, and the texture of my skin went completely scaley.  The foundation was so good, but that is an immediate deal breaker.

And there you have it, another set of disappointing products.  What have you tried lately that disappointed you?
